Special Populations

Description of Program

The Training and Transition program is focused on identifying and cultivating student skill and matching these skills with the needs of industry.  The program offers rigorous workplace readiness curriculum and relevant Work-Based Learning opportunities to students with disabilities. All industry sectors are served by this program. Additionally, the Coordinator acts as a resource to school and business personnel to assist in developing inclusive recruitment materials, offering appropriate accommodations, and delivering responsive interventions to ensure student success in career pathways and Work-Based Learning opportunities.

Special Populations, as defined by Perkins IV

  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Individuals from economically disadvantaged families, including foster children
  • Individuals preparing for nontraditional training and employment
  • Single parents, including single pregnant women
  • Displaced homemakers
  • Individuals with other barriers to educational achievement, including individuals with limited English proficiency
